CRKT RSK Mk5

I've been looking for a small fixed blade knife for quite a while, something like 4-5" OAL for neck carry. I want a small one like the Breeden PSK Mini knife on GoingGear's site. However GoingGear's site is not working properly, it lists the product but when you add it to your cart it says "Sorry, the product was not found". Then, I remembered Doug Ritter's, so here it is.




It comes in an Altoids type tin can.


3.81" overall length, 1.75" blade length 3Cr13 hardened to 52-55 HRC, 0.21" thickness and weigh 0.78 oz.


I comes very sharp out of the box. It is small but very useful, can do a lot of task like opening letters, cutting cardboards, sharpening pencil and a good firesteel striker too. It can make stakes too but don't expect to build a shelter with it though. ;)


I plan to make a neck sheath for it instead of using the zytel sheath. I'd probably have a small firesteel on the neck sheath too. Why do I want a small knife? For one, so I can hang it on my neck and forget about it but it would be there when I need it. Nice every day carry knife.

Puma Cobra

Here's one of my small knives, Puma Cobra originally made in Germany but this one is made in China. I bought it from eBay.


One piece stainless construction with bead blast finish. Black ABS scales with Puma shield.


It feels quite comfortable in my hands. It does not come sharp out of the box - can't cut paper. I have to sharpen it with a stone and leather strop for 30 minutes more or less.


5 7/8" overall. 2 3/4" blade. Chinese mystery steel. It doesn't say what kind of steel the blade is made of aside from being stainless. I sharpened the spine so I can also use it as striker for firesteel.


Black leather belt sheath. I just carry it in my pocket. I'll probably make a neck sheath for it. Nice little knife.

BIC Lighter Pouch

I bought a Speedy Stitcher so I can make leather sheaths for my knives. I still have to source the leather for the sheaths so for the meantime I practiced stitching using leather from an old jacket that I'm not using anymore. Here's my first leather stitching project .

The BIC lighter in the small pouch. I didn't use guidelines so the stitch was rather crooked. I used cable tie for attachment to my carabiner.

Fire Using Bamboo

Starting a fire using dry bamboo demonstrated here by Aeta tribesmen in the Philippine jungle. Bamboo has many uses and is quite prevalent in Asia. It is oftentimes used as building material for houses, furnitures, utensils, baskets, cradles and is even used as handles for BNCW-01 Bushcraft knife. It is also a source of food. The bamboo shoot, new bamboo culms that come out of the ground, is harvested and cooked as vegetables.





A good alternative for the bow drill and hand drill method in places where bamboo is available.

I think I'm fast becoming a collector of Mora knives. This one is an addition to the growing number of Moras in my collection.

A Bigger PSK in Can

I think I have been bitten by PSK in Can mania. Ever since I made my first kit in can, I have made another two versions, a bigger one and smaller one. Here's the bigger one version.

You know what, I forgot to wound the fishing line in the credit card. Rest assured I would do it.


There you are, I added a fishing kit, band aid, twisty, candle, BIC sparky, duct tape and char cloth. I could add some more items, I guess. Very appropiate kit with my neck knife.
