MTech Neck Knife Survival Kit

As I promised on my post last August 15, here is another article about this knife which I made into a survival kit.

The materials for the survival kit are, the knife itself, firesteel, button compass and a ranger band.

I just slipped the ranger band on the sheath and inserted the button compass at the front. The picture shows the button compass inserted underneath the ranger band.

And the firesteel at the back.

A close up of the firesteel.

How it looks like completely assembled and hanging on my neck. Cool?

That's all folks! Thanks for reading.

MTech Neck Knife

First of all sorry for the bad pictures. I used my cellphone to take these pictures because my camera was borrowed by a friend. Anyway, I promise to post another blog about this neck knife soon.

440 Stainless Steel, Blade: 2 1/8" , Overall : 4-1/2", Sheath: Black Hard Nylon with neck cord, USA Design made in China.

Two finger grip, so handy and small . Sharp out of the box but needs further stropping.

Side by side with the RSK MK5. The sheath has a very good retention. It rattles a bit but won't fall off. Overall, an awesome cheap little knife. And by the way, the butt end is a bottle opener though I've never tried it yet.

That's all folks! Thanks for reading.

CRKT Dogfish

The Dogfish, another affordable CRKT knife designed by Tom Krein, was so called because it has a dogfish face at the pommel which turns out to be a lanyard hole and bottle opener.

Made of 3Cr13 stainless steel, 2.25 inch blade with an overall length of 5.25 inches. It has a plain blade with a secure finger choil and friction grooves at the thumb spine near the butt. Comes complete with a Kydex sheath but does not have a very good retention however.

Sharp edge - small but feels comfortable in my hand.

I wrapped the handle with a paracord and made a lanyard loop. A very good value for the price.
